Thailand
cheapest in Asia for Brit visitors.
According to a recent article reported
in Travel Mole Asia, Thailand leads all
Asian countries in value for money. This
is the result of a finding by First Rate
Excahnge Service, the folks that are
behind the Post Office's foreign
exchange in the UK. Thailand is tops,
with Bali in Indonesia and Malaysia
close behind. In fact estimates show
that package prices to Thailand could be
a full quarter cheaper than last high
season. Thailand also benefits from a
shopping basket of popular tourist
staples priced at just £38.13, which is
around one third of the cost in
Australia. This country's basket totals
£104.95 – making Australia the highest
priced of 16 long haul destinations in a
Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer.
In other parts of the globe, Mexico
offers about 12% more for the pound
whilst Jamaica earns the cheapest
destination in the Caribbean.
